Join us from April 18 – May 2 to reach our goal of raising $20,000 to continue the necessary work of preserving and protecting even more farmland.

You’re invited to the 35th Annual A Day in the Country

April 2024

Join Yolo Land Trust on Sunday September 8 from 2pm – 5pm for their annual farm-to-fork fundraiser, A Day in the Country, at Bogle Family Vineyards in Clarksburg.

A Day in the Country is a true celebration of Yolo County agriculture. Guests will enjoy delicious tastings from the region’s top chefs featuring fresh, seasonal food grown on Yolo County’s rich farmland. Farms, ranches, vineyards, and breweries from Yolo County join in providing additional tastings and beverages.

Restaurants have already committed to participating, including The Waterboy and Mulvaney’s Building & Loan from Sacramento. We are so grateful for their support – they have been coming to the event since its early years. Other participating restaurants include Savory Café and Kitchen 428 from Woodland; Selland’s Market-Café and Ella from Sacramento; and Franquette from West Sacramento. There will be two new restaurants, Preserve and L’Apero Les Trois from Winters. And don’t forget the great wineries and breweries attending – Bogle Winery, Matchbook Winery, Grindstone Winery, L’Apero Les Trois, Berryessa Gap Vineyards, Nitty’s Cider, and Drake’s Brewing Co. More food and beverage vendors will be added in the coming months!

It has been over 5 years since we last held A Day in the Country in Clarksburg. We are delighted to be returning to the area where YLT protected their first farm, a 60-acre vineyard right down the road from Bogle Family Vineyards. In the Clarksburg area YLT has protected 8 additional farms with agricultural conservation easements, totaling more than 1,280 acres. All of which will remain farms forever as their resources have been conserved and protected thanks to the forward-thinking landowners and their willingness to partner with YLT.

The Home Ranch at Bogle Family Vineyards will provide a serene setting amongst the vines. “Bogle Family Vineyards is honored to be hosting the 35th annual A Day in the Country,” said Jody Bogle. “It holds a very special place in our heart, as our mother, Patty Bogle, loved volunteering with Yolo Land Trust for so many years. The work of the Yolo Land Trust is critical in conserving what makes Yolo County so special, and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of it!”

In 1989, Yolo Land Trust held the first A Day in the Country. Celebrating the abundance of food that grows year-round on the rich soil of Yolo County is at the heart of why YLT started hosting A Day in the Country. What started as a small gathering with guests bringing their own appetizers has grown into YLT’s signature fundraising event, an annual sell-out event unlike any other.

Proceeds from the event go directly toward YLT’s work of conserving farmland in Yolo County. YLT has partnered with over 60 farmers to protect more than 13,000 acres of farmland from non-agricultural development. These permanently protected lands will remain farms forever. YLT is committed to protecting soil, water, wildlife, and agriculture by conserving farmland.

Sponsorships are now available! As a Sponsor, you will receive admissions to the event, marketing benefits, and will demonstrate that you value all that farms provide – food, jobs, clean air, open space, wildlife habitat, and a thriving community. To commemorate the 35th Anniversary, we are offering a limited number of Legacy Sponsorships. At this top level your sponsorship will include two never before offered benefits – a reserved table at the event for your group and a VIP wine tasting featuring limited release and reserve selection Bogle wines before the event.

Thank you to our Sponsors who have committed their support  – David’s Engineering, AgWest Farm Credit, CAPTRUST, Citrona Farms, Northern California Water Association, TS&L Seed Co., Val Dolcini & Solveig Monson, Kathy Ward & Harold Crawford II, West Yost, and James & Judith MacDonald.

A limited quantity of tickets will be sold starting in July. To ensure you don’t miss out on the great event, consider becoming a sponsor today.

Thank you to everyone who has supported A Day in the Country over the past 35 years. Whether you attended, sponsored, volunteered, provided produce, or helped in any other capacity, we are greatly appreciative of all you’ve given to support YLT. This event would not be possible without the dedication of Paul Muller from Full Belly Farm, thank you for your commitment to YLT.

We are eager to celebrate A Day in the Country with you on September 8th! If you have any questions, please contact Stacy Wear at 530-662-1110 or swear@theyololandtrust.org.
